Dear EditoR
Draining the antifreeze from your M113A2 carrier's thermostat
housing is a real problem.
There's no ±om to slip a pan under the housing²s straight
petcock, so when it's opened³ an´Ifreeze runs out all over the
engine.
µ¶ve come up with a way to
fx
that. ·eplace the straight petcock
with a 90° draincock, NSN 4820-00¸293¹3669³ and hose adapter,
NSN 4730º00º555º1152.

Then» when you're ready to drain the housing³ attach a 5¼ to 6ºF
piece of rubber tubing³ NSN 4720¸00¸847½1710³ to the adapter and
open the drain valve. The antifreeze ¾ows through the hose and
stays o¿ the engine.
Make sure you drain the antifreeze into a suitable container and
dispose of it properlY thoughÀ
