UH-60A/L…
Dear Sergeant Blade,
Our mechanics had a tough time assembling tires on rims for our Black
Hawks using the suggested line-up bolts in Paragraph 3-4-13 of TM 1-
1520-237-23 to help draw the wheel halves together.
The problem is that the line-up bolts
are not long enough and we can’t screw
the nuts onto the other bolts to tight-
en the wheel halves together, especially
when assembling new tires.
Also, because of the position of the
bolt pattern, the halves do not rest
evenly when bolted together on the
floor. That can cause leaks through the
packing once the tire is fully assembled.
We’ve come up with a table-mounted
fixture that lets you assemble the wheel
without using line-up bolts to draw the
wheel halves together.
Your AVIM shop can make the tire fix-
ture. Then you can attach it to a table.
Follow the TM procedures as usual,
except use the fixture instead of bolts
to draw the wheel halves together like it
shows on the next page.

this fixture
is just what
