arfghters and their DA civilian counterparts deal with stress, Family issues and
many day-to-day challenges in the oFfce, at home and on the battlefeld.
The Army is addressing the needs oF Soldiers and civilians to help them maintain
strong minds and strong bodies by introducing Comprehensive Soldier ±itness (CS±).
The Army’s CS± program is “a structured, long-term assessment and development
program to build resilience and enhance the perFormance oF every Soldier, Family
member and DA civilian.”
The program stresses fve dimensions oF strength that address the physical,
emotional, social, Family and spiritual needs oF Soldiers and civilians.
These fve dimensions oF strength
are supported by the ±our Pillars oF
Comprehensive

±itness. The
Pillars are the Global Assessment Tool
(GAT), the Master Resilience Trainers

(CRMs)
and
Institutional
