a. Position boom parallel to ground. (See Figures 2-5 or 2-6). Extend boom to length given in Table
2-7 and attach test bad.

l Boom extension is measured on a horizontal line from center of turntable to the center of the vertical
hoist line with load attached.
NOTE
l Use the manual boom control when performing step b. on crane
winch control on the HIAB 8109 Crane.
l All test loads should be raised smoothly so as not to create a sudden
trounce.
b. Raise the test bad to a height of six inches.
