TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE

MALFUNCTION

BRAKES FAIL TO RELEASE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

1.

Ensure intervehicular air hoses are properly connected and preformed packing is not damaged

or missing.

a.

If hoses are improperly connected, connect them properly.

b.

If preformed packing is missing or damaged, replace packing.

2.

Ensure dump valve is closed. If open, close dump valve.

3.

Ensure shutoff valves in towing vehicle are open. If closed open valve.

4.

Ensure there are not restrictions in air lines or hoses. If air lines or hoses are restricted replace

them (WP 0070).

5.

Test brake adjustment (WP 0058). If brakes do not adjust, check return spring on brakes

(WP 0056).

6.

Test Electronic Control Unit (ECU) valve (WP 0059). If defective, replace (WP 0060).

7.

Coat air chamber flange with soapy water at all air fittings. If leaks are detected, tighten

securing hardware sufficiently to stop leaks.

8.

Apply soapy water in holes to non-pressure side of air chamber body. If leaks are detected,

replace air chamber (WP 0069).
