3-10. Asphalt Hose.

a.

Repair of Three Inch Asphalt Hose.

(Refer to fig. 3-116.)

With two large pipe wrenches, remove coupler (5) from hose adapter (4).

Remove adapter (4) from jam nut (2) and remove packing (3).

Remove jam nut (2) from flex hose (1).

With a sharp pointed tool remove gasket (6) from coupler (5).

Repeat steps (1), (2), (3), and (4) for other end of same hose.

Install jam nut (2) onto flex hose (1).

Wrap packing (3) over jam nut (2) at flex hose (1).

Install adapter (4) on to jam nut (2) and tighten with two pipe wrenches.

Install coupler (5) on to adapter (4).

Install new gasket (6) into coupler (5).

Repeat steps (6), (7), (8), (9), and (10). on other end of hose.

b.

Repair of One Inch Asphalt Hose.

With two large pipe wrenches remove coupler ( 11) from adapter (10).

Remove adapter (10) from jam nut (8) and remove packing (9).

Remove jam nut (8) from flex hose (7).

With a sharp pointed tool remove gasket (12) from coupler (11).

Repeat steps (1), (2), (3), and (4) for other end of hose.

Install jam nut (8) onto flex hose (7).

Wrap pecking (9) over jam nut (8).

Install adapter (10) to jam nut (8) and tighten with two pipe wrenches.

Install coupling (11) on to adapter (10).

Install new gasket (12) into coupler (11).

Repeat steps
