CAUTION

M44A1 series trucks are equipped with a sprag unit (over-

spinning clutch).

In order to prevent damage to the drive

train, the following procedure must be followed closely.

1.

Mark one corner of mating flanges (1) of front axle drive shaft (2) at front axle

with paint.

2.

Mark one corner of mating flanges (3) of front axle drive shaft (2) at transfer case

with paint.

3.

Take out four bolts (4) from each end.

Store drive shaft and connecting hardware

with truck.
