Step 1. Check brake adjustment.

Adjust brakes (para 11-7) or replace slack adjusters (para 11-5 or 11-6).

Step 2. Check for worn or glazed linings or scored drums.

Replace shoes if worn or glazed (para 11-3 or 11-4).

Replace drum if scored (para 12-2 or 12-4).

Step 3. Check air lines for leaks or damage.

Repair air lines as required.
