PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION.

ENGINE.
a.
Engine Oil System Components and Piping.
BREATHER TUBE.
Allows fumes from hot oil to escape.
OIL FILLER.
Located
in front rocker arm cover.
Used for replenishing oil supply.
OIL PUMP.
Circulates oil through engine to provide cooling and lubrication.
OIL COOLER.
Coolant circulates through internal tubes of cooler and carries away heat from engine oil.
PRIMARY OIL FILTER.
Throwaway filter removes dirt and foreign particles from oil.
BYPASS OIL FILTER.
Throwaway filter provides filtration when primary filter is clogged or damaged.
DRAIN PLUG.
Located in
bottom of engine oil pan.
Used to
drain oil from engine.
OIL RETURN LINE.
Carries return oil from turbocharger to engine block.
OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK.
Engine oil level indicator.
OIL SUPPLY LINE.
Carries oil
under pressure
to cool and
lubricate turbocharger
