WARNING
NOISE
Personnel hearing can be permanently damaged if exposed to constant high noise levels
of 85 dB or greater. Wear approved hearing protection devices when working in high noise
level areas. Personnel exposed to high noise levels shall participate in a hearing
conservation program in accordance with DA PAM 40-501 (WP 0131). Hearing loss occurs
gradually but becomes permanent over time. Failure to comply may result in
personnel injury.
EXPLANATION OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ICONS
BIOLOGICAL
- Abstract symbol bug shows that a material may contain bacteria or viruses that present
a danger to life or health.
CHEMICAL
- Drop of liquid on hand shows that the material will cause burns or irritation to human skin
or tissue.
CRYOGENIC
- Hand in block of ice shows that the material is extremely cold and can injure human skin
or tissue.
EXPLOSION
- Rapidly expanding symbol shows that the material may explode if subjected to high
temperatures, sources of ignition, or high pressure.
EYE PROTECTION
- Person with goggles shows that the material will injure eyes.
FIRE
- Flame shows that a material may ignite and cause burns.
