AND SHALL BE REPAIRED BY STANDARD MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE AFTER THE MISSION IS COMPLETED.
SECTION I. General
3-1. General.
The M113 FOV is powered by a V-6, liquid cooled, two-cycle supercharged, diesel engine
6V53. Engine damage can be detected by several different methods.
a. Abnormal oil pressure or temperature readings or warning lights.
b. Abnormal noises.
c. Abnormal amounts or coloration of exhaust smoke.
d. Sudden loss of power or excessive fuel consumption.
This chapter gives various expedient fixes which may restore the tanks mobility in
event of engine system failure.
