Release downward pressure of gooseneck kingpin on towing vehicle fifth wheel bedplate by lowering
gooseneck a slight amount beyond resting point where semitrailer contacts ground or wooden blocks.
CAUTION
Remove chains before operating semitrailer by raising gooseneck as with instructions
earlier in this work package and then sliding chains out of D-rings. Failure to comply may
result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.
NOTE
The next two steps are tieback procedures to perform if semitrailer will not be used for 10
days or longer.
4.
Attach one end of chain (Figure 16, Item 6) to roadside gooseneck D-ring (Figure 16, Item 1) and other end
of chain to curbside semitrailer D-ring (Figure 16, Item 4), as tight as possible.
5.
Attach one end of another chain (Figure 16, Item 3) to curbside gooseneck D-ring (Figure 16, Item 2) and
other end of chain to roadside semitrailer D-ring (Figure 16, Item 5), as tight as possible.
