WARNING
• Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, deadly poisonous gas which, when breathed,
deprives the body of oxygen and causes suffocation. Exposure to carbon monoxide
produces symptoms of headache, dizziness, loss of muscular control, apparent drowsiness,
and coma. Permanent brain damage and death may result.
• Carbon monoxide occurs in exhaust fumes and can become dangerously concentrated
under conditions of inadequate ventilation. The following precautions must be observed
during operation of the AVLB:
• DO NOT operate heater or engine in enclosed areas.
• DO NOT drive the vehicle with inspection plates or cover plates removed.
• DO NOT sleep in the vehicle with the heater running or the engine idling.
• BE ALERT for exhaust fumes and symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure. If either
is present, evacuate the vehicle and ventilate the personnel compartments.
• BE AWARE that the gas particulate filter and M25A1 tank mask WILL NOT protect
against carbon monoxide poisoning.
