Six gaskets (Appendix D, Item 168)

INITIAL SETUP:
1.
Remove manifold coupling clamp (4) from front exhaust pipe (5). Using soft-faced hammer, tap
clamp (4).
2.
Separate front exhaust pipe (5) from exhaust manifold (2) and remove gasket (3) from front exhaust
pipe (5). Discard gasket (3).
3.
Loosen screw (17) and nut (15) on dipstick tube (16).
4.
Loosen clamp (12) and remove heater inlet hose (13) and clamp (12) from shutoff valve (11) on water
manifold (1).
5.
Unlock eight key washers (7) and remove eight screws (6), key washers (7), and four clamps (8) from
exhaust manifold (2). Discard locktabs (7).
6.
Position oil dipstick bracket (14) out of the way.
7.
Remove exhaust manifold (2) and six gaskets (9) from three cylinder head dowels (10). Discard
gaskets (9). Separate manifold (2) sections.
1.
Position six new gaskets (9) and exhaust manifold (2) on three cylinder head dowels (10) for
installation.
2.
Install four clamps (8), eight new key washers (7), screws (6), and oil dipstick bracket (14) on
exhaust manifold (2).
3.
Reposition oil dipstick bracket (14) for installation.
4.
Connect heater inlet hose (13) to shutoff valve (11) on water manifold (1) and tighten clamp (12).
5.
Tighten screw (17) and nut (15) on dipstick tube (16).
6.
Install new gasket (3) between exhaust manifold (2) and front exhaust pipe (5).

Position manifold coupling clamp (4) on front exhaust pipe (5)
