Clean area around connections before disconnecting lines and
hoses. Failure to do so may result in damage to fuel pump.
Cap or plug all openings immediately after disconnecting lines
and hoses to prevent contamination, Failure to do so may result
in damage to fuel pump.
Have drainage container ready to catch excess fuel.

Loosen clamp (10) and remove fuel return hose (9) from fuel injection pump return nipple (11).

Disconnect six injector fuel lines (12) from fuel injection pump (8).

Remove screw (1), two connection washers (2), and fuel supply tube (3) from fuel injection
pump (8).

Remove screw (6), bushing (6), two connector washers (4), and fuel supply tube (3) from cylinder
head (7).

Remove plug (16) and O-ring (15) from flywheel housing (14). Discard O-ring (15).
Assistant will help with step 13.
13.
Using barring tool, secure engine flywheel (13) and remove nut (17) and lockwasher (24) from fuel
pump shaft (20). Discard lockwasher (24).
14.
Using barring tool, rotate engine until timing pin (21) enters hole in camshaft gear (22). Piston
No. 1 is now at top dead center.
Do not remove fuel injector pump gear from gear housing.
15.
Using puller, remove fuel pump gear (23) from fuel pump shaft (20).
16.
Remove four nuts (19) and fuel injection pump (8) from gear housing (18).
17.
Remove O-rings (25) and (34) from fuel injection pump (8). Discard O-rings (25) and (34).
Perform steps 18 through 20 if installing new fuel injection pump.
18.
Remove two screws (29) and fuel shutoff lever (30) from fuel injection pump (8).
19.
Remove two screws (28) and throttle lever (27) from shaft (26).
20.
Remove plug (32), two copper washers (33), and fitting (31) from fuel injection pump
copper washers (33).
