EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Turbocharger removed (para. 3-21).

Place turbine housing (26) in soft-jawed vise.
Perform step 2 to aid alignment during assembly.
Using scriber, scribe a line across compressor housing (1), diffuser (6), bearing housing (l8), and)
turbine housing (26).
Use care when removing compressor and turbine housing. Failure
to do so may result in damage to turbine or compressor blades.
Remove nut (2), clamp (3), compressor housing (1), and O-ring (4) from diffuser (6). Discard
O-ring (4).
Straighten tabs on two lockplates (25) and remove four screws (24) and two lockplates (25) from
bearing housing (18). Discard lockplates (25) and screws (24).
Locknut has left-hand thread.
It may be necessary to secure turbine shaft for removal of locknut.
Remove locknut (14), impeller (5), diffuser (6), O-ring (7), oil slinger (12), split ring (13), and oil
baffle (11) from turbine shaft (2). Discard O-ring (7), split ring (13), and locknut (14).
Remove three screws (8), thrust bearing (10), and thrust collar (9) from bearing housing (18).
Discard thrust bearing (10).
Straighten tabs on two lockplates (16) and remove four screws (15), two lockplates (16), and
clamping plates (17) from turbine housing (26). Discard lockplates (16) and screws (15).
Remove bearing housing (18) from turbine housing (26).
Remove turbine shaft (21) and heat shield (22) from bearing housing (18).
Remove split ring (20) from turbine shaft (21). Discard split ring (20).
Remove four retaining rings (23) and two bearings (19) from bearing housing (18). Discard retaining
rings (23) and bearings (19).
