(17) Remove supply port adapter (5) from steering gear

assembly (14).

(18) Remove nut (23) and steering pitman arm (24) from

output shaft (25).

(19) Remove steering gear assembly (14) from vise.

b. Installation.

(1) Position steering gear assembly (1) in vise.

CAUTION

Ensure marks on steering gear output shaft

and pitman arm are aligned.

Failure to

comply may result in damage to equipment.

(2) Install steering pitman arm (2) on output shaft (3).

(3) Position nut (4) on output shaft (3).

(4) Tighten nut (4) to 365-446 lb-ft (495-605 N m).

(5) Stake nut (4) to output shaft (3) at a minimum depth of

0.1 in. (2.5 mm).

(6) Install supply port adapter (5) in steering gear assembly

(1).
