Engine shut down (TM 9-2320-366-10-1).
Battery box cover removed (TM 9-2320-366-10-2).

Gloves, Rubber (Item 13, Appendix C)
Apron, Rubber (Item 3, Appendix C)
Tool Kit, Genl Mech (Item 46, Appendix C)
Materials/Parts
Dispenser, Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tape
(Item 20, Appendix D)
Grease, Automotive and Artillery (GAA) (Item 22,
Appendix D)
Nut, Self-Locking (4) (Item 158, Appendix G)
Lockwasher (Item 87, Appendix G)
a. Removal.
(1)
Remove nut (1) and lockwasher (2) from battery
ground cable (3).
Discard lockwasher.
(2)
Deleted.
(3)
Remove terminal lugs TL50A (5), TL48 (6), and
battery tester terminal lug (7) from battery ground
cable (3).
WARNING
•
Remove rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, and any other jewelry before working around
vehicle.
Jewelry can catch on equipment and cause injury or short across electrical circuit and
cause severs burns or electrical shock.
Batteries can explode from a spark.
Battery acid is
harmful to skin and eyes.
Always wear eye protection when working with batteries.
Failure to
comply may result in injury to personnel.

Negative battery terminals and battery tester negative terminal lug must be disconnected first.
Failure to comply may result in serious injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
Tag battery terminals, terminal lugs, and
connection points prior to disconnecting.
