GENERAL.
When anew, used,
orreconditioned
semitrailer,
van body, orchassis
isfirst received,
determine
whether ithas
been
properly
prepared
for service
and is
in condition
to perform
its mission.
Follow
the inspection
instructions in
paragraph
4-5 and servicing
instructions
in paragraph
4-6.

INSPECTION
INSTRUCTIONS.
a.
Refer to DD Form 1397
for procedures
on unpacking
the semitrailer,
van body,
or chassis.
b.
Remove
allstraps,
plywood,
tape,
seals,
and wrappings.
WARNING
Dry cleaning
solvent,
P-D-680,
is toxic and flammable.
Always wear protective
goggles
and gloves,
and use only in a well-ventilated
area.
Avoid contact
with skin, eyes,
and
clothes,
and DO NOT breathe
vapors.
DO NOT use near open flame or excessive
heat.
The
solvent’s
flash
point
Is 100°F-138°F
(38°C-59°C).
If you
become
dizzy
while
using cleaning
solvent,
immediately
get fresh air and medical
help. If solvent
contacts
eyes,
immediately
wash your
eyes
and get medical
aid.
c.
Remove
rust preventive
compound
from coated
exterior parts of the semitrailer,
van body, or chassis
using
dry cleaning
solvent
(Item 14, Appendix
E) and rags
(Item 11, Appendix
E).
d.
Inspect the semitrailer,
van body, or chassis
for damage
incurred
during shipment.
Check
also to see if the
equipment
has been
modified.

Check
the
equipment
against
the
packing
list to
ensure
discrepancies
in accordance
with
instructions
in DA Pam 738-750.
