A hot brake
can cause
serious
burns.
Exercise
extreme
caution before
attempting
to touch brakedrum
after use.
Slowly
move
hand
toward
brakedrum.
If brakedrum
is
overheated,
radiated
heat
will
be
felt
before
actually
touching
brakedrum.
NOTE
An
overheated
brakedrum
and
hub
indicates
an
improperly
adjusted
or
defective
brake
or
wheel
bearing.
An
abnormally
cool
condition
indicates
an
inoperative
brake.

Immediately
after road test, cautiously
feel brakedrums
and hubs
for abnormal
heat.
