Semitrailer parked on firm, level ground.
Dry cleaning solvent (Item 14, Appendix E)
Tools/Test Equipment:
Two cotter pins
Three rivets
General mechanic’s tool kit
Eight Iockwashers
Hydraulic jacks

a.
REMOVAL I
1.
Set jacks or blocking under lower folding side door to release tension on wire rope assembly
(9).
2.
Remove screw (7), Iockwasher(11 ), and nut(12) from wire rope assembly(9) and upper end of counterbalance
bar (27). Discard lockwasher.
3.
Remove two cotter pins (1 O) from headed straight pins (6). Remove headed straight pins and upper and lower
groove pulleys (8) from corner post (15). Discard cotter pins.
4.
Unscrew turnbuckle

from lower end of wire rope assembly(9) and remove upper end of wire rope assembly
from corner post (15).
5.
Remove four screws (5), Iockwashers (4), two brackets (3 and 18), and three arms (2, 16, and 17) from upper and

lower folding side doors. Discard Iockwashers.
6.
Remove two screws (25), guide clip assemblies (26), lockwashers (1 4), nuts (1 3), and counterbalance bar (27)
from corner post (15). Discard lockwashers.

DISASSEMBLY I
1.
Remove two bolts (1), Iockwashers(11 ), nuts (12), and arm (2) from bracket (3) and counterbalance bar (27).
Discard Iockwashers.
2.
Remove rivet (19) and bracket (18) from arm (17) and eyebolt (21). Discard rivet.
3.
Remove two rivets (20) and separate arms (16 and 17). Discard rivets.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles
and gloves, and use only in a well-ventllated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and
clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flame or excessive heat.
The solvent’s flash point is 100

C). if you become dizzy while
using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. if solvent contacts
eyes, immediately wash your eyes and get medical aid.

Clean all parts with dry cleaning solvent and dry thoroughly.
