WARNING
CLEANING COMPOUND HAZARDS
Solvents can burn easily, can give off harmful vapors, and are harmful to skin and
clothing. To av oid injury or death, keep aw ay from open fire and use in a well-
ventilated area. If solv ent gets on skin or clothing, w
ash immediately w ith soap
and water.
Cleaning compound is toxic and flammabl e. Always wear protective goggles and
gloves and use only in a w ell-ventilated area. Av oid contact w ith skin, ey es, and
clothes and DO NOT breathe v apors. DO NOT use near open
flames or excessive
heat.
Improper cleaning methods and the use of unauthorized cleaning liquids or
compounds can injure personnel and damage equipment. To prev ent this, refer to
TM 9-247 for further instruction.
DO NOT w ash oil seals, electrical cab
les, and flexible hoses w
ith cleaning
compounds or mineral spirits. Serious dama ge or destruction of material w ould
result.
Compressed air used for cleaning or dry ing purposes, or for clearing restrictions,
should ev er exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Wear protectiv
e clothing (goggles/shield,
gloves, etc.) and use caution to avoid injury to personnel.
WARNING
GROUNDING SEMITRAILER
Be sure that grounding connections are made properly
and firmly before any
fueling operations begin. This w
ill ensure
that grounding connections will not
release, thus eliminating the possibility of sparks caused by static electricity that
will ignite the fuel. This applies to top loading and bottom loading
at a fixed
loading facility . Bottom loading is the preferred method w
hen facilities
are
available. Failure to follow this w arning may cause a spark to ignite, resulting in
serious injury or death to personnel.
