DESCRIPTION

This WP contains general shop practices and specific methods you must be familiar with to properly maintain the M88A1. You

should read and understand these practices and methods before performing any task.

General

Before beginning a task, find out how much repair, modification, or replacement is needed to fix the equipment. Sometimes the

reason for equipment failure can be seen right away, and complete teardown is not necessary. Disassemble equipment only as far

as necessary to repair or replace damaged or broken parts.

Lubrication

Refer to TM 9-2350-256-10 and TM 9-2350-256-20 for lubrication instructions.

Painting and Restenciling Markings

Refer to TM 9-2350-256-20 for painting and restenciling instructions.

Lockwire and Sealing Compound

Install lockwire by the double twist method. Apply sealing compound to all pipe threads during installation.

of this manual.
