CLEAN AIR SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
0026 00
MALFUNCTION 2:
Abnormal operation of dust ejector system (air cleaner requires cleaning too often).
PROBABLE CAUSE
CORRECTIVE ACTION
a. Restricted air cleaner (air cleaner restriction
indicators have reached 30 inches H
2
O).
(1) Service air cleaner, refer to pertinent
vehicle technical manual.
b. Leak in vehicle exhaust dust ejector system
due to loose or missing clamps or damaged
hoses and gaskets.
(1) Inspect, clean, tighten, and replace parts
as necessary.
Refer to pertinent vehicle
technical manual.
c. Submergence exhaust pipe cap assembly
flapper restricting scavenge tube opening
due to flapper hinge pin worn or broken.
(1) Replace as necessary.
Refer to pertinent
vehicle technical manual.
d. Submergence exhaust pipe cap assembly
flapper in restricting tube opening due to
water freezing flapper in closed position.
(1) Repair or replace as necessary.
Refer to
pertinent vehicle technical manual.
e. Scavenge system not functioning due to
punctured or damaged tubes.
(1) Repair or replace as needed.
f.
Exhaust dust ejector nozzle worn or
damaged due to operation, installation, or
disassembly.
(1) Repair or replace as needed.
MALFUNCTION 3:
Low power and excessive black smoke.
PROBABLE CAUSE
CORRECTIVE ACTION
a. Leak in engine air induction system or
defective turbosupercharger.
(1) Inspect engine air induction system and
clean, tighten, or replace parts as
necessary (WP 0037, Induction Leak
Test).
b. Restricted air cleaner (air cleaner restriction
indicators have reached 30 inches H
2
O).
(1) Service air cleaners, refer to pertinent
vehicle technical manual.
