THEORY OF OPERATION

GENERAL

The Crew Protection Kit consists of two armored doors, roof armor, windshield ballistic glass, underbody mine blast

armor, firewall armor, front cowl armor, rear cab armor panels, emergency egress, two A-pillar armor panels, two B-pillar

armor panels, and two wheel well blast deflectors.

Side armor assembly consists of two door frames and doors, A-pillar armor, and B-pillar armor. Door frames are

mounted to existing door frame and bolted in place. Armored door assembly (which incorporates ballistic glass) is hung using

a hinge pin to hold it to frame assembly. Remaining components of the side armor consists of the lower A-pillar armor in the

front and B-pillar armor in the rear. The A- and B-pillar armor are bolted to the door frame.

There are three underbody mine blast panels that are attached to each other using two stud plates. The underbody mine

blast panels are attached under the cab with six mounting brackets. Mounting brackets are mounted under the cab and attached

to the floor using grade 8 bolts.

Rear armor frame is bolted at top and bottom to rear of truck cab. Studs on rear of B-pillar armor support the sides of

rear armor frame. Five rear armor plates and emergency egress frame are inserted into the rear armor frame. Emergency egress

can be operated from inside or outside the vehicle to provide emergency escape.

The roof armor is located inside the vehicle cab. Roof armor is supported by the roof armor frame which is attached to

brackets at the door frames and upper bolts of the rear armor. The three main roof armor panels are supported by two dividers.

Front armor consists of the windshield ballistic glass and front cowl armor. Remaining armor panels are fastened to the

vehicle using attachment brackets and grade 8 fasteners.
