REMOVAL

1.

Back off brake drum (Figure 1, Item 15) from hub (Figure 1, Item 7).

NOTE

Steps 2 applies to right forward hub and drum only. Perform Step 3 if hub mileage meter or

bracket is damaged and must be replaced.

2.

Remove two bolts (Figure 1, Item 17), lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 18), and hub mileage meter

(Figure 1, Item 16) from hub (Figure 1, Item 7). Discard lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 18).

3.

Remove four bolts (Figure 1, Item 17), lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 18), hub cap (Figure 1, Item 14),

and hub cap gasket (Figure 1, Item 13) from hub (Figure 1, Item 7). Discard lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 18)

and gasket (Figure 1, Item 13).

4.

Bend tabs on tabbed washer (Figure 1, Item 2) and remove outer bearing nut (Figure 1, Item 1), tabbed

washer (Figure 1, Item 2), keyed washer (Figure 1, Item 3), and inner nut (Figure 1, Item 4).

5.

Remove outer bearing set (Figure 1, Items 5 and 6).

CAUTION

DO NOT remove studs from hub unless stud(s) are damaged. Failure to comply may result

in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.

NOTE

Perform Steps 7 and 8 if hub, inner bearing set, and/or seal are damaged and are to

be replaced.

6.

Remove hub (Figure 1, Item 7) from axle spindle (Figure 1, Item 12).

7.

Remove grease seal (Figure 1, Item 10) and inner bearing set (Figure 1, Items 8 and 9).

8.

Remove oil seal retainer (Figure 1, Item 11). Discard oil seal retainer (Figure 1, Item 11).
