REMOVAL
CAUTION
Do not use timing pin to prevent engine from turning. Doing so may cause damage to timing
pin.
NOTE
Assistant will help with this procedure.
1.
Using engine barring tool, prevent crankshaft (Figure 1, Item 10) from turning.
2.
Remove eight screws (Figure 1, Item 9), clamping ring (Figure 1, Item 8), flexplate (Figure 1, Item 7), and
crankshaft adapter (Figure 1, Item 6) from crankshaft (Figure 1, Item 10).
3.
Remove 12 screws (Figure 1, Item 5), flywheel housing (Figure 1, Item 4), and gasket (Figure 1, Item 3) from
rear cover (Figure 1, Item 11). Discard gasket.
NOTE
Perform Step (4) if dowel pins are damaged.
4.
Remove two dowel pins (Figure 1, Item 2) from engine block (Figure 1, Item 1).
