3-397. ENGINE COOLANT HEATER REPLACEMENT

EQUIPMENT CONDITION
MATERIALS/PARTS
Engine coolant heater pump removed (para. 3-398).
Cotter pin (Appendix D, Item 58)
Four locknuts (Appendix D. Item 291)
a. Removal
1.
Disconnect heater harness (3) from engine coolant heater (2).
2.
Disconnect fuel line (8) and elbow (9) from engine coolant heater (2).
3.
Disconnect hose (7), adapter (6), elbow (5), union (4), and nipple (10) from engine coolant heater (2).
4.
Remove cotter pin (19) and exhaust tube (18) from engine coolant heater (2). Discard cotter pin (19).
5.
Remove hose (13), adapter (15), and elbow (16) from engine coolant heater (2).
6.
Remove two clamps (11) from engine coolant heater (2).
7.
Remove engine coolant heater (2) from bracket (12).
8.
Remove four locknuts (17) and screws (14) from bracket (12). Discard locknuts (17).
9.
Remove bracket (12) from toolbox (1).
b. Installation
1.
Install bracket (12) on toolbox (1).
2.
Install four screws (14) and new locknuts (17) on bracket (12).
3.
Install engine coolant heater (2) on bracket (12).
4.
Install two clamps (11) on engine coolant heater (2).
5.
Install elbow (16), adapter (15), and hose (13) on engine coolant heater (2).
6.
Install exhaust tube (18) on engine coolant heater (2) with new cotter pin (19).
7.
Install nipple (10), union (4), elbow (5), adapter (6), and hose (7) on engine coolant heater (2).
8.
Install elbow (9) and fuel line (8) on engine coolant heater (2).
9.
Connect heater harness (3) to engine coolant heater (2).
