3-398. ENGINE COOLANT HEATER PUMP REPLACEMENT

EQUIPMENT CONDITION

Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
l
Hood raised and secured (TM 9-2320-272-10).
a. Removal
1.
Close water manifold drainvalve (1) and engine oil cooler drainvalve (2).
2.
Open toolbox door (6).
3.
Close two engine coolant heater drainvalves (3).
4.
Loosen clamp (16) and remove manifold inlet hose (19) from heater pump elbow (15).
5.
Loosen clamp (18) and remove pump outlet hose (4) from heater pump adapter (17).
6.
Remove nut (5) and lockwasher (7) from terminal stud (9) and disconnect ground wire (8) from
heater pump (14). Discard lockwasher (7).
7.
Remove nut (13) and lockwasher (12) from terminal stud (10) and disconnect wire (11) from heater
pump (14). Discard lockwasher (12).
8.
Remove clamp (21) and heater pump (14) from pump bracket (20).
9.
Remove heater pump elbow (15) and adapter (22) from heater pump (14).
10.
Remove heater pump adapter (17) from port (23).
b. Installation
1.
Install heater pump adapter (17) in port (23).
2.
Install adapter (22) and heater pump elbow (15) in heater pump (14).
3.
Install heater pump (14) on pump bracket (20) with clamp (21).
4.
Install wire (11) on terminal stud (10) with new lockwasher (12) and nut (13).
5.
Install ground wire (8) on terminal stud (9) with new lockwasher (7) and nut (5).
6.
Install pump outlet hose (4) on heater pump adapter (17) and tighten clamp (18).
7.
Install manifold inlet hose (19) on heater pump elbow (15) and tighten clamp (16).
8.
Open two engine coolant heater drainvalves (3).
9.
Open water manifold drainvalve (1) and engine oil cooler drainvalve (2).
10.
Close toolbox door (6).
