EQUIPMENT CONDITION
MATERIALS/PARTS
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Two cotter pins (Appendix D, Item 60)
Two woodruff keys (Appendix D, Item 729)
a. Removal
1.
Remove cotter pin (15), pin (13), and shift lever rod (16) from cross shaft lever (14). Discard cotter
pin (15).
2.
Remove cotter pin (10), pin (8), and transfer case shift rod (9) from cross shaft lever (7). Discard
cotter pin (10).
3.
Loosen nut (1) and screw (2) and remove cross shaft lever (14) and woodruff key (12) from cross
shaft (5). Discard woodruff key (12).
4.
Remove cross shaft (5) and cross shaft lever (7) from shift lever bracket (3).
5.
Loosen nut (4) and screw (6) and remove cross shaft lever (7) and woodruff key (11) from cross
shaft (5). Discard woodruff key (11).
b. Installation
1.
Install new woodruff key (11) and cross shaft lever (7) on cross shaft (5). Do not tighten nut (4).
2.
Install cross shaft (5) with cross shaft lever (7) on shift lever bracket (3).
3.
Install new woodruff key (12) and cross shaft lever (14) on cross shaft (5) and tighten nut (1) and
screw (2).
4.
Tighten nut (4) and screw (6).
5.
Install transfer case shift rod (9) on cross shaft lever (7) with pin (8) and new cotter pin (10).
6.
Install shift lever rod (16) on cross shaft lever (14) with pin (13) and new cotter pin (15).
