NOTE

Perform steps 7 through 10 for right side of vehicle.

l

Soak felt pad in lubricating oil before installation.

Install clip (3) and felt pad (4) on steering knuckle ball (5).

Install steering assist cylinder (2) on steering knuckle ball (5). Tighten adjustable plug (6), then

back off until slots align with holes (7).

Install new cotter pin (1) on steering assist cylinder (2).

Bend tabs of clip (3) over felt pad (4) and steering knuckle ball (5).

NOTE

Perform steps 11 and 12 for left side of vehicle.

Install drag link (16) on steering knuckle arm (15) with nut (13). Tighten nut (13) 140-180 lb-ft

(190-244 N•m).

Install new cotter pin (14) in nut (13) and drag link (16).

NOTE

l

Wrap all male threads with antiseize tape before installation.

l

Perform step 15 for M939A2 series vehicles.

Connect two air lines (17) to adapters (18) on relief safety valve (19).

Install elbow (11) and adapter (9) on left and right service brake chambers (12).

Connect two primary lines (8) and vent lines (10) to elbows (11) and adapters (9).
