a. Cleaning

Clean governor (4) in accordance with para. 2-13.

b. Inspection

1.

Inspect governor (4) for scoring or damage. Replace if scored or damaged.

2.

Inspect gear (1) for damage. Replace governor (4) if gear (1) is damaged.

3.

Check governor weights (3) for free operation. Replace governor (4) if weights (3) are binding.

4.

Allow governor weights (3) to hang in their outward position. Using feeler gauge, measure

valve opening at governor intake (2). Minimum valve opening is 0.020 in. (0.50 mm). Replace

governor (4) if opening does not meet specifications.

5.

Hold governor weights (3) inward. Using feeler gauge, measure valve opening at governor

exhaust (5). Minimum valve opening is 0.020 in. (0.50 mm). Replace governor (4) if valve opening

does not meet specifications.
