MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. WINDSHIELD
WIPERS
INOPERATIVE OR
OPERATE SLOWLY
(GAUGE AT
NORMAL
OPERATING
PRESSURE)
NOTE
If any component within the
pneumatic windshield wiper assembly
is found to be damaged, replace the
entire pneumatic windshield wiper
assembly with the electrical
windshield wiper assembly
(WP 0240 00). Work packages listed
in this malfunction refer to the
installation of the electrical
windshield wiper assembly.
1. Start engine and allow air pressure
to build to normal operating
pressure.
2. Operate windshield wipers and
inspect lines and hoses for leaks.
Test 1. Check windshield wiper motor
supply line (9) pressure.
1. Compress clamp (8) and
disconnect windshield wiper
supply line (9) from tee (7).
2. Install adapter (6) on test
gauge (5).
3. Connect adapter (6) to
windshield wiper supply
line (9) with clamp (8).
4. Start engine
(TM 9-2320-361-10) and allow
air pressure to build up to
normal operating pressure.
5. Operate windshield wipers
to full on position
(TM 9-2320-361-10).
6. Check reading on test
gauge (5).
1. If air leaks are found, repair as
required (TM 9-243).
2. If no air leaks are found, perform
test 1.
1. If reading is lower than 55 psi
(379 kPa), replace the entire
pneumatic windshield wiper
assembly with the electrical
windshield wiper assembly
(WP 0240 00).
2. If reading is 55 psi (379 kPa) or
higher, perform test 2.
