• Turn off all vehicle electrical power.
• Dial 72 into TEST SELECT switches.
• Press and hold TEST until CAL messages
appears on display.
• Release TEST.
• Wait for offset value to appear.
• Is offset value within the limits of –225 to
+ 225?

Test GO1, VTM Connections and Checkout, must be
performed before running any other STE/ICE-R test.

NOTE
While cranking the engine with bad or discharged
batteries, it is possible for the VTM to lose power
and come on again after the cranking has stopped,
displaying four dashes. If this ever occurs,
immediately proceed to the Battery Test, NG 81
(WP 0018 00).
• When GO appears, shut off fuel
and press starter switch until OFF
or an error message is displayed on
VTM.
MEASURE STARTER CURRENT–FIRST PEAK:
• Press TEST
• Wait for prompting message GO to
appear on the display.

CONNECTION CURRENT PROBE-DO OFFSET
• Connect P1 of transducer cable W4 to J2 on VTM.
• Connect P2 of cable W4 to the connector on
current probe.
• Clamp current probe around positive battery
cable connected to starter.
• Point arrow on the probe toward the starter.
• Crank engine for several cycles with fuel shut off.

• Proceed to TM 9-4910-571-12&P.
NOTE
If engine does not crank, go
to test NG 20 (WP 0018 00).
