16-71. M1089 FOLD CYLINDER REPLACEMENT (CONT)
WARNING
Use care when removing retaining rings.
Retaining rings are under tension and can
act as projectiles when released. Failure
to
comply
may
result
in
injury
to
personnel.
(2) Remove four retaining rings (4) from two retaining pins
(5).
(3) Remove two retaining pins (5) from fold cylinder (3).
(4) Remove fold cylinder (3) from left lower arm (6).
(5) Remove 90-degree fitting (7) and 45-degree fitting (8)
from fold cylinder (3).
(6) Remove two preformed packings (9) from 90-degree
fitting (7) and 45-degree fitting (8). Discard preformed
packings.
b. Installation.
(1) Install two preformed packings (1) on 45-degree fitting
(2) and 90-degree fitting (3).
(2) Position 45-degree fitting (2) and 90-degree fitting (3) in
fold cylinder (4).
(3) Tighten 45-degree fitting (2) and 90-degree fitting (3) to
23-24 lb-ft (31-33 N·m).
