Process auxiliary and basic issue items
simultaneously with the Recovery Vehicle t o
which they are assigned. If possible, stor e

covery Vehicle. If stored apart from the Re-
covery Vehicle, mark auxiliary and basic issu e
items with tags indicating the Recovery Vehi-
cle, its registration or serial number and loca-
tion, and store in protective type closures. I n
addition, place a tag or list indicating th e
location of the removed items in a conspic-
uous place on the Recovery Vehicle .

diately coat unpainted metal surfaces with a n
oil or grease as appropriate .

Sunlight, heat, moisture (humidity) ,
and dirt tend to accelerate deterioration. In-
stall all covers (including vehicle protectio n
closures) authorized for the equipment. Clos e

for venting and draining. Seal openings t o
prevent the entry of rain, snow, or dust. In-
sert desiccant when complete seal is required .
Place equipment and provide blocking or
framing to allow for ventilation and wate r
drainage. Support cover away from Recover y
Vehicle surfaces which may rust, rot, or
mildew .

suspend all regularly scheduled preventiv e
maintenance services and inspect and exer-
