Clean work area often. Do not let magnesium particles build up.
WARNING
Improper disposal of magnesium can cause a fire or explosion. Do not expose magnesium
to high temperatures. Let magnesium dry beforeplacinginsealedmetal containers. Label
containers and ship to a Class 1 hazardous waste disposal site.

Dispose of magnesium chips and filings according to regulations.
EXTERNAL FUEL TANKS (M981 AND M1064 ONLY)
WARNING
Fuel fumes can explode and burn you. Before welding:
Drain all fuel.
Disconnect and cap all fuel and vent lines.
Purge fuel residue and fumes by steam cleaning.
Purge air from fuel tank with CO2.

PLASTIC MOLDING MATERIAL
WARNING
Do not weld on plastic molding material. Welding on plastic molding creates toxic fumes.
Fumes are hazardous to your health and can result in death.

Welding on plastic molding material is not authorized. Do not attempt to weld on these parts. Replace part or notify your
supervisor. The following is a list of plastic molding material parts and their locations:

Driver’s power plant compartment access panel.
b.
Power plant rear compartment access panel.
c.
Driver’s seat upholstered backrest.
d.
All armor made of plastic molding material.
