LOCATION AND DESCRIPTIONS OF MAJOR COMPONENTS
ENGINE
A diesel engine is located in the power plant compartment.
TRANSFER GEARCASE
The transfer gearcase is connected to the engine and transmission. It provides power through pulleys to the fan and generator.
TRANSMISSION
An automotive transmission connects to the transfer gearcase and powers the differential.
DIFFERENTIAL
The differential has three propeller shafts, one inputting power from the transmission, and two propeller shafts attached to
final drives. The differential is the steering and braking for the power train.
FINAL DRIVES
Final drives attach to the differential by propeller shafts. They deliver power to drive sprockets at the front of the carrier.
TRACKS AND SUSPENSION
Drive sprockets are at the front of the carrier drive track. Torsion bars and shock absorbers attach to road wheels and provide
suspension.
