Ensure aiming points are established.

Chief of section selects highest crest in his sector of fire.

Chief of section sights along the bottom part of cannon tube.

Chief of section directs gunner to traverse and assistant gunner to elevate cannon tube until bottom of

cannon tube just clears crest.

Chief of section directs assistant gunner to level cross-level (43) and elevation level (42) bubbles of

M15 elevation quadrant (41).

Chief of section reads quadrant off of M15 elevation quadrant (41) scale, records this reading, and

estimates range to crest (M1A1 gunner’s quadrant may also be used).
