6-6 PRIMARY FUEL FILTER
This task covers:

Right transmission access door opened (para 11 -7)
Filter element (item 189, Appx G)
a. Removal/Disassembly
Do not smoke or use open flame when working on fuel system. An explosion may
occur, causing severe injury or death.
NOTE
Primary fuel filter does not need to be removed from vehicle to remove filter element.
1 Disconnect primary fuel filter input hose(1) at quick disconnect (2).
Fuel is a hazardous waste and must be disposed of in accordance with local
procedures or direction of the local Hazardous Waste Management office.
2 Open draincock (3) and drain fuel into suitable container.
3 Remove elbow (4). Loosen cover screw (5).
4 Remove filter shell (6), filter element (7), and gasket (8). Discard filter element and gasket.
NOTE
Continue removal process only if complete primary fuel filter assembly removal is
necessary.
5 Remove draincock (3), cover screw (5), and washer (9). Discard washer.
6 Disconnect primary fuel filter-to-air box heater hose (10). Remove elbow(11 ).
