SCOPE
This manual contains repair procedures and supplemental data for the Cummins NTC-400 six-cylinder,
in-line, turbocharged diesel engine. The repair procedures in this manual are for use at direct support
and general support maintenance levels. All information contained in this manual applies to both
Big Cam I and Big Cam III engines except where differences are specifically noted.
MAINTENANCE FORMS
Department of the Army forms and procedures used for equipment maintenance will be those
prescribed by DA PAM 738-750, Functional Users Manual for The Army Maintenance Management
System (TAMMS).
REPORTING EQUIPMENT IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS (EIR’S)
If your Cummins NTC-400 six cylinder diesel engine needs improvement, let us know. Send us an EIR.
You, the user, are the only one who can tell us what you don’t like about your equipment. Let us know
what you don’t like about the design or performance. The preferred method for submitting Quality
Deficiency Reports (QDRs) is through the Army Electronic Product Support (AEPS) website under the
Electronic Deficiency Reporting System (EDRS). The web address is: https://aeps.ria.army.mil. This is a
secured site requiring a password that can be applied for on the front page of the website. If the above
method is not available to you, put it on an SF 368, Product Quality Deficiency Report (PQDR), and
