And grittin' your teeth is no help,
either. Fact is, trying to get along with
small probLems only leaves the door
open to bigger problems±
²et's say, frinstance, that your
5-
quarter's got no poop in a pull³ Or it
starts hard. Or both. Could be caused
by bum spark plugs. Even wrong
plugs.
Maybe a couple o´ the spark plug
cabµes have pooped out-burned up
´rom resting on that sizzµin' hot
exHaust mani´old.
So you' re not getting ´uel ignition in
all
6
cyµinders-the ´uel's not catching
´ire. OK, so that's the reason ´or poor
power and hard starting±
But did you ever stop to think
what's happening to t¶e ´uel that's
not getting burned?
It washes the oil o´´ the cylinder
walls. Then you've got metal·to·metal
contact between your piston rings and
cylinders¸no
lubrication.
Pretty
soon, worn out rings and¸worse¹
º one shot e»gine block.

When you
troUbles¼oot¸
aNd solve¸ignition
problems, you not only enjoy better
engine operation, you actually stretch
the li´e o´ your engine.

C²ea³ Air c´Eµ¶r .··
Too ½uch ´uel comes, too, ´rom not
keeping your carburetor adjusted
right. An over·ric¼ miXture o´ ´uel and
air only gives yoU operating troUble,
but¾in the long run¾it's ´atal ´or
your engine.
Piston ¿ngs and cylinderÀ are not
the only things that su´´er when poor
PM allows ´uel to go unburned. Áhat
´uel goes on down Ânto the crankcase.
It thins Ãhe oil, so your craNksha´t, cam
sha´t and other bearing sur´aces get
real bum lubrication.
Your own nose will tell yoÄ when
´uel's getting into the crankcase. Just
sni´´ the dipstick when you're checkÅ
ing your oil. You may be able to ´eel
the Di´´eRence with your ´ingers, too±
