level, take a good looK at that radiator
cap. It's more Than just a Cover for the
raDiatoR fiLler hole, and it needs soMe
care to keep it working rigHt.
Of course, you ±now that you've
gotta keep the seating surfaces clean,
or the cap won't hold pressure. ²ents,
cracks a³d nicks in the seating surfaces
wiLl also cause a leaK´ And a Leak wiLl
let your coolant boil away.
SoMe guys donµt reaLize that there
are
2
valves in the cap. See tHat Little
button i³ the middle of the inside of
tHe cap? If thatµs bunged up, it'll Let out
Your fluid, too. If itµs in good shape,
rotate tHe button back and forth a
couple of tiMes. ¶hat'll take care of
any dirt in the seat.
When ¸ou take tHe
cap off to check t¹e
coolant, set it down
on the top of the
radiator. ¶hat chain
is

there to Keep the
cap froM getting lost,
not for letting it dangle
and ba»g against the
vehicle.

the
pressure
rating
st½mpeD or printed right on the cover
of the cap¾ ¿aKe sure you get the right
one´

wear it.À If the cap's pressure is too
low your coolant wilL boil away before
the
