When you RaNk mechaNics trouble-
shoot tHe smoKe geNerator system to
isO²³te uNcoNtroLled exhaust smoke,
yOU clOse tHe manuaL fuel sh´tµoFf
v¶Lve·
That teLls you iF the smoke iS caused
by an eNgine maLFuNctioN or a smoke
geNerator soLenoid valve MalFuNction¸
Thing is, when yo´±ve takeN care oF
tHat probLem, Yo¹ caN cause another
one iF you Leave the valve cLosed.
WheN itºs cLosed, the expansioN oF
the FueL iN the liNes (»eated By the oiL
coolers) can rupture a so¼enoid VaLve
seat or cause FueL to Leak past t»e shut-
oFF valve steM seaL. That½lL get you
more uNcontroLled smoke.
¾o, make sure the sh¹t¿ oFF valve is
open when you Finish your trouBLe-
shooting.
