If your Chinook has riveted Nuts o±
a drive shaft flexible pLate pack, take a
cLose look at 'em duri±g your iNspec-
tioNs, crew chiefs.
ANy residue betwee± aN adapter a±d
plate meaNs the ±ut is Loose² The
result caN be a cracked pLate, pieces
brokeN off aND high³freque±cy vibra´
tµoNs i± flight.

´o make t³e cover» maKe a 4'¼in
diameTer circuLar cuT in 2 pieces Of 2½in
thick fOam rubber. Make A 13½in
diameter hoLe thru 1 piece To Accom¾
modate the drain vaLve.
¿Tack the 2 pieces Together and
wrap Àem withpressuresensiTiveTape.
IncLude 2 pieces of 3Áin VeLcrO ta¸e 7
inches LongÃLocaTed 180 degrees
a¸artÄso you can attac³ The cOver to
t³e TransmissiOn.
GLue 2 other pieces of the VeLcro
tape» eac³ 4 inches LongÅ to The
transmission, 4' inches apart» On ÆneÇ
Instal t³e cover over the drain vaLve
by mes³ing the VeLcro TaÈes TogetherÉ
ON some drive shafts, pieces of the pLate ca± wiNd up iN aN eNgiNe, causiNg
miNor foreigN object damage.
You caN't tigHteN riveted NUts witH
a torqUe wreNcH. So replace tHe NUts
aNd bolts oN the affected p¶ate pack,
usiNg the same Har·waRe ¶¸ste· iN ¹M
