Prevention's the best medicine when it comes to unsticking whip antenna
sections.
KEEP 'EM CLEAN: BefOre putting sections together, be sure they're clean.
Grit or dust on a ±ating surface can Jock the sections up tight.
A pencil eraser, notebook paper or a non-abr²sive pot scrub
?
er will do the
cleaning trick. Lay oF with steel wool, sandpaper or other abrasIves, tho. They
take oF the copper coating the sections need fOr good electrical contact.
You can use a bore brush³gently´
to clean the µmale mating sections.

·f you already have ½ozen sections on your sturdy tubular Àntennas, h»re's
one way to g»t 'em apart. We heard
about it ½om thÁn SSG Robert Bonura
of Ât Polk, LA.
Tie a tent peg to each end of a 5-ft
rope. With a buddy holding one peg,
wrap the rop» around the sections
counteÃclockÄise. SÅrt Æ8 inches above

With your partner holding his end still, turn the other end around the sections
until the rope tightens. Continue until the section loosens and begins to tÇrn.
Take it apart by hand if you can. ·f you can't, do the "rope tricÈÉ again.
·f a bottom section binds, wrap the rope to the antenna base. Êold it there
while your buddy turns the top peg.
