Tape Your T-983
The cable receptacles on the back of
your T-983 traNsmitter look the sAme,
·
but they're not.
Forcing the CX-10762 power cable
onto the OW (order wire) receptacle
will zap your 5TR1±5 AmplifIer mon²³
tor panel.
Head o´ this revoltin' jolt²µ' by
putt²ng a small piece of colored tape or
a touch of paint near the 115 V±C
receptacle. Put another on the cable.
Then when you connect the cable,
keep the colors together.
You can get a roll of tape ¶r this job

ºf you thi»k a bad connection has
already been made, make the r²ght one
and test ¶r damage. With the radio
on, turn the T-983's input control knob ¼lly counterclockwise to LOW. Set the
meter switch in the 12 C½ PCM, 24 C½ PCM and FDM positions. ¾f there's
a meter readinG in any of these settings, the panel is damaged and yoU¿ org shop
has to replace it.

put the lugs under the terminal nuts. ºf
the nuts are mÏssing, replace them. Øse
·S· 531000¹939¹2653 .
¾f you leave the lugs loose, you'll get
arcing anÚ corros²

n. That'll Blow the
PP-4763's M2 output current meter.
Tight also means replac²ng the ouÛ³
puÜ terminal access plate and securing
the cable clamps. That helps keep the
lugs Ýom working loose.
