Your vehicle's powerplant scaven-
ger reservoir catches blow±by fom the
engine and transmission.
It keeps
all
that oily
mess
fom
making a Fre hAzard in the hulL.
But, the reservoir can cause some
blow²by o³ its own i³ you don't do
a
couple o³ things´
´µ¶WµYS ¶EµVE the reservoir's
hull drain p·ug out during all operations
except ¸rDing. I³ the reservoir plug is
le³t in place,
the reservoir Fl·s up.
That creates pressure in the scavenger
system. THe pressure escapes thru the
breather.
KEEP ¹the
reservoir
breather clean. I³ the breather is clogged
and the drain plug is in place,
pressure builds up.
Over
time,
the
pressure wiLL cause blown engine and
transmission seals.
But
you'll
get
the
picture
much
sooner. When you check the transmis-
sion oil level one day´Blooey!´you'LL
get a ºce±»ll o³ oil. I³ that oi·'s hot,
you'l· get a bad burn.
Remember tHe drain plug aNd the
breather
when
you
pull
the

operation reservoir

Tight is right when it comes to
¾
the
hydraulic traversing unit on your M578.
µny movement in the mount can
cause

erks and slips when traversing.
¿amage to the traversing unit caused
by movement mUst be repaired at ¿S.
That means you lose use o³ the vehicle.
TM 9±2350±238À10 or ±20 does not
have a bolt tightness check. So, i³ you
suspect
