Here aRe some sPeCial things you've got to know ±o operate a Goer safEly:
If Engine Stops .±±
¸¹V¹º shIft the ±ransmIssion if ±he engin» qui±s running whIle you're
drIving.

the transmIssion dIsConneCts fÂom the engIne. Tha± means ±he ±ransm1ss1Ãn
Can't drIve the dÄad engine.
When your dead engIne stops ±urning over¿ ±he transmission oil pressure
drops to zero.
Shifting Is stopped Cold beCause
oIl pressure Is needed to shift gears.
Worse, Åhen the dead engine stops
turning over beCause it's no longer
driven Æy the transmission, power
steering Is lost. You Can't Control
your Goer.
So, if the engIne stops, DO ÇOT
move the shift lever.
Keep drIÈinÉ In as straight a pa±h
as possIble. The engIne wIll still turn
the poÅer steerIng pump so you Can
steer.

StoP by pumping ±he brake treaÊ
dle. WatCh it, tho! Yo² have only
enough air in the reservoirs for abou±
eight full p²mps on the treadle.
Have your meCh install a warning
plate, ¸SÇ 9905Ë0´-204-4456,just ±o
the right of the shift lever ±o remind
you not to shIft if the engine stops
running whIle yo²'re driving. Ìara
3-3 of TB 43-000´-39Í6 (J²l 85) tells
about the plate.

shoulder, sloÅ down easy by downÊ

If the engIne's stIll r²nÊ
ning. Keep travelIng on the shoulder
²ntil yo³ Can ease ÆaCÑ oÒto the
road.
Keep engIne speed aÆove Ó,500
ºÌM so there's hydraulIC pressure
for steerIng.
When braÑIng, push the pedal
down easy. Jumping on

the brakes
will loCk the wheels and yo² Can't
steer.
Îf you lose Control In a skId or
slIde, steer into the slIde. T²rning in
the dIreCtIon of the slIde Åill

you right side up. Yo² Can thinÑ

later.
Lopin's a Los¸¹
Loping Can lead to loss of Control.
Your foot bo²nCing on the aCCelera×
tor makes the vehICle bo²nCe. ¸ix It

Keep yo³r heel on the fÙoorÆoard
and use the ball and toe of yo²r foot
to oPerate the aCCelerator.
Or, if a bump in the road gets your
Goer loping, slow down to Change
the rhythm of the bounCe. WheÚ lopÛ
ing quIts, yo² Can piCk up speed
agaIn.
