If the chin strap on your SPH-4
flight helmet pulLs Loose from the
cloth retention
assembly,
chances
are it's one of the old straps.
The new chiN strap± ²S ² 8415³01³
057-3502, has a double end attaching
system that works much better.
Until you can replace your old
chin strap with a new one, here's a
temporary fix:
Add a steel washer, ²S² 5310³00³
167³0765,
under the slotted head
post. It'lL keep the grommet from pulliNg through the cloth.
Before you attach the chin strap to the

head post, tho, add some sealing
compound to the screw threads to keep the screw from comiNg Loose. ²S²
8030³00³2´7³2524 gets a 2³oz tube.

Some Moµawk mechs are not using a torque wrench to tighten wheel
retaining Nuts on the landing gear.
¶he result is damaged bearings when they overtighten, or bent wheel rims
when they undertigµten.
TM 55¸1510³213¸23¸1 specif¹es 100¸150 Lb³in for the nosewµeel nut.
For the main wheeLs± tµe TM says to torque the nuts to 15 lb¸ft± then back
oºf to near zero. Retighten to 5 Lb¸ft. ¶hen advance the nut to the nearest
cotter pin slot.
